Kraftin' Kimmie tryout

Today I have a very special card, as it's for a tryout to be a guest designer at Kraftin' Kimmie stamps.  There are a few reasons I want a guest spot on this team.  One, they're CANADIAN!  Yay for my fellow Canucks!  Two is because the images are just absolutely adorable.  Check these out!

The third reason I'd love to be a guest designer is because these are not digital stamps, they're the real deal.  I've never worked with rubber before when it comes to colouring, and would love the chance to try out these beautiful images and showcase how versatile they are.

Since I love colouring characters, I chose this cute little girl named Poppy (revised) by Saturated Canary to feature as my entry.

I made a second card this week too.  A friend asked if I could make a card for a bookworm, who loves Stephen King.  I used this image from the Faces Saturated Canary pack, and added the Stephen King titles.

Thanks for looking!  Be sure to check out the Kraftin Kimmie website, and also the facebook page for lots of contests and fantastic inspiration.

Celebration cards

Today I have two cards to share with you.

The first was a little out of my comfort zone.  A friend asked if I could make a Breakfast at Tiffany's themed card for a bridal shower.  This Octopode Factory stamp had me a little nervous with the different angles than I was used to, but I was so pleased with the look of her when she's done.  I added a little bling and stickles for her jewellery, and some more girly details to make the card.  Hope she likes it!

Copics used:
Skin: E000, 00, 21, 11, 04 R20
Hair: E49, 47, 44, 42
Dress: black, C09, 07, 05
Cat: YR 21, 23, 24, 27, T02

The next card is for a Teammate's 60th birthday.  She is an EXCELLENT cake maker.  This is a picture of a cake she made for a baby shower recently.  The entire thing is edible!

So of course with talent like that, she had to have a "cake maker" themed card!  I was so excited to use this Saturated Canary image.  Can't wait to give it to her!
Copics used:
Skin - E000, 00, 21, 11, 04, R20
Hair - E59, 55, 52
Sweater - G29, 19, 07, 14  W05, 01
Icing bag - R59, 39, 55, 24
It's hard to tell but I used some yellow Liquid Pearl to make the beading on the cake and the glob of icing on the table stand out.

Colouring practice

This summer has been too hot to spend upstairs in my scrapbook room.  Even with the air cranked, the sun beats in and it's just sweltering!  Luckily it's easy to sit with my markers in front of the TV.  Even though no projects have been created, I've been busy colouring.  Here are some of my latest copic colourings!

Learning to use Pencils

Hello!
Well, I have to admit, when I bought my set of Polychromos I expected I'd play for an hour or two and have it mastered.  I thought the transition from markers to pencils would be seamless.  Not the case!!!  Even with the help of the Kit and Clowder Perfecting Pencils class I've found it to be a struggle.  The concepts of how to create colour and blending are totally different.  But of course, there are universal concepts like light and shadow that stay the same.

At first I wasn't at all keen in posting my pencil work.  However, I look forward to learning more, practicing more, and coming back to these posts to appreciate how far I've come.  So here are a couple of my first images!

Getting back into the swing of things!

Happy Monday and welcome back!
I recently posted a make on facebook and a kind person asked if I had a blog.  Gulp!  Yes...technically.....but it's been severely neglected!  I haven't done too much colouring lately but thought I'd update with what I have done.

First up I'm getting my first pair of glasses and this image inspired the pair I picked.  I love the nerdy-chic look of her! It's cupcake girl from Saturated Canary, and she's part of a faces pack.  I have to thank owner/designer Krista Smith especially because she was kind enough to send me these images after an Instagram contest.

Copics used:
Skin: E000, 00, 21, 11, 13, 04
Hair: E42, 44, 49
Tshirt: black, C05, 07, 09
Bow: B23, 45, 37, 39, 99 and white paint pen

Next up is a card I made for my Nana's bday.  The girl reminded me of Rainbow Brite (for anyone not familiar, a cartoon from when I was a kid) which is where the idea of the rainbow hair came from.  Again, she's another Saturated Canary image called Starshine
Copic Used:
Skin: E000, 00, 21, 13, 04 R20
Hair: R32, 35, 39 YG21, 23, 25 Y13, 15, 19
Dress: B02, 04, BG07, 09, 78

And last but not least I thew my name in for a contest over at the Simply B stamps fan page.  The challenge was to use one of the fundraiser digis (I chose Prom Rio); and use 3 designer papers, one ribbon, glitter, colours black and gold, and make it punk/grunge.   The prize is the rest of the year's Friday Fun digis. Wish me luck!

Simply B pumpkin exchange

Welcome everyone and Happy Halloween!

Recently I took part in a "Secret Pumpkin Exchange" through Simply B stamps.  Crafters from all over the world were matched up and sent each other a box of Halloween themed crafting goodies.  We were also to make each other something using the image Simply B Stamps "Pumpkin Queen" digi.  Also we were supposed to make each other a Halloween themed project like a box or bag....but unfortunately I misunderstood and didn't do that.  :(   I feel especially terrible because what I received from my partner was a true work of art!!!

So on to the good stuff.  I was sooo excited to have been matched with Holly, who's blog if you've been following along you visited last.  Holly and I have chatted a bit over facebook and I'm always in awe of the awesome projects she makes.  This was certainly no exception!

Here's the card I received....

my AMAZING hat box....

and the cutest little tag....
Such talent.
Ok, and I have been dying to tell Holly THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!  Honestly guys, she went WAAAAY above and beyond and completely spoiled me. I'm truly grateful for all the effort she put into making me the most amazing package!

to name a few: rhinestones, glossy accents, distress ink, charms, glitter glue, ribbons, and more!
Four super cute stamp sets including a Stamping Bella and some Halloween bottle cap ones
An assortment of 12x12 Graphic 45 'Rare Oddities' paper, and a giant embossed paper pack.  There were some yummy goodies too...but they didn't make it to the picture taking!  haha
Holly, thank you so much for your kindness, and Betty thanks for organizing all of this!  Oh, and Earnhart and Ella enjoyed the gift too!!!  lol

Up next you're going to see Keri!  Happy Halloween!
